A wild and peaceful stretch away from major highways. The day begins in the Beaumont National Forest. After visiting Orpierre, a charming village in the Baronnies region of Provence that is uniquely surrounded by cliffs, the route ends further east in Lagrand.

Description

After spending the night in Vaucluse, you can take a short detour through unspoiled countryside to the Romanesque chapel of Saint-Cyrice (12th century), the remnant of a former priory.
Next, pass through Orpierre, formerly known as “Val Perreus,” a town in the Baronnies region and a stronghold of the Princes of Orange. Two eco-museums can be visited along the way: “Viticulture of Yesteryear” and “Café of Yesteryear.” The route passes near the ridges of Chabre and Sainte-Colombe.
This stage finally leads to Lagrand, a village perched on an ancient Gallic oppidum (medieval priory; 12th-century church).
  • Departure : Vaucluse hamlet

Recommandations

CAUTION - This route passes through mountain pastures where animals graze. Shepherd dogs and livestock guardian dogs, such as Patous, often guard sheep, ewes, and other livestock.
It is recommended that you do not walk through a herd but instead give it a wide berth. When encountering a guard dog, do not make any sudden movements, do not look it in the eyes (like any dog, it may perceive a fixed gaze as aggression), stop until it has identified you, remain calm and passive, do not threaten it, and do not pet it.

    The Ceans

Taking its source at the top of the mountain of Chamouse, the Ceans crosses all the Orpierrois-district before flowing into the Buëch at the level of Garde-Colombe. Over 22 km long, the torrent partly follows the route of the Princes of Orange.
