Leave St-Geniez via a beautiful scenic trail.
After a steep climb to Pas de l’Echelle, your efforts will be rewarded with a magnificent 360° view of the Pre-Alps, the Alps, and Provence from the summit of Trainon. The descent through the forest is marked by the presence of old beech trees. In a very remote corner, a trail rejoins the D3 (use caution on this stretch of road). The road offers views of the Gorges du Vançon. A sign from the Geoparc de Haute Provence provides some information, and as you approach Authon, beautiful marl formations line the road, where you’ll also find an original stone installation by Andy Goldsworthy as part of his “Art en Chemin” project.
