The very first part of the stage, along the D 942, is not particularly interesting and actually requires great caution. It continues with a very scenic route along the Méouge River, especially in the fall when the foliage is colorful (not recommended during freezing weather, as it involves crossing a waterfall).

Shortly after, leave the D 942 and follow a trail south toward St-Pierre-Avez.

From the ruins of Piloubeau, the highest point of the route, the trail continues along a forest road leading to the hamlet of Pomet. Descend the small road that continues on the other bank of the Méouge. Cross the famous Roman Bridge and gradually climb up a trail that follows the course of the Méouge. After about 1.5 km, a forest track leads you toward the center of the village of Saint-Pierre-Avez. The route then descends back toward the Méouge, follows it along, and crosses it to reach Barret-sur-Méouge.
