Description
- From Rosans, a medieval village at the gateway to Drôme Provençale (where you can admire the 12th-century “Tour Carrée”), take the D94 along the Eygues River toward Rémuzat and its cliffs teeming with birds of prey. Above your heads, the spectacle is about to begin.
- The rest of the route follows the Oule River, cycling from village to village: Cornillon-sur-l’Oule (a small Provençal village situated between the Diois and the Baronnies, overlooking Lake Cornillon and the Oule Valley), La Motte-Chanlançon (a medieval village perched on a hill), and La Charce (with its restored castle, its pretty, quiet streets, and its three waterways: the Oule, the Establet stream, and the Pommerol stream).
- From there, we tackle the Col de la Fromagère (1,072 m) via the north slope, which winds through a wild landscape where limestone and erosion have blended so seamlessly that slender “fairy chimneys” rise up.
- Descending from the Col de la Fromagère and Pommerol, a small road leads through a beech forest to Rosans, the starting point.
