This short loop along winding country roads takes you through the heart of the famous Méouge Gorges. Over the course of 17 km, it offers a wonderful taste of this valley, which exudes the charm of Provence.

Description

  1. From Barret-sur-Méouge, take the D942 toward Châteauneuf-de-Chabre. Follow the Méouge Gorges until you reach the Roman Bridge. Designated as one of the Wonders of the Hautes-Alpes, the Méouge Gorges are renowned for swimming and hiking... classified as a biological reserve, they are one of the jewels of the Sisteron Buëch region.
  2. Take the small winding road that climbs toward Pomet to cycle with a bird’s-eye view overlooking the Méouge. The climb is quite rugged and gradually becomes surrounded by forest. On the descent, the landscape opens up and the twists and turns continue as you make your way back to the Méouge Gorges.
  3. Return along the same route you took on the way there until you reach Barret-sur-Méouge.

Access and parking

From Laragne (15 km), take the D 942 toward the Gorges de la Méouge. Once you exit the gorges, continue on to Barret-sur-Méouge.

    Shaped by the same named stream , the Gorges de la Méouge are breathtaking. Protected site (Natura 2000 Zone), the gorges offer marvelous viewpoints accessible by the surrounding trails.
