This easy, short cycling loop winds its way around La Bâtie-Montsaléon, a small village that now stands on the site of a once-important Gallo-Roman town. The site has been excavated several times and identified as one of the most significant along the Roman road connecting Milan to Arles.
Itinerary n°6

Description

  1. From the town hall in La Bâtie-Montsaléon, follow the D148 toward Savournon until you reach the intersection with the D48.
  2. At the intersection of the D148 and the D48, turn left to cross the Col de Chaumiane, then continue toward Chabestan. Follow the road for 4 km to the intersection of the D 48 and the D 49 (Chabestan).
  3. At the intersection, take the Route du Villard on the left. Follow this road for 3.5 km to return to the parking lot at the town hall in La Bâtie-Montsaléon.

Access and parking

From Serres (8 km), head toward Gap on the D 994 for 6 km. Turn right onto the D 148 to reach the village of La Bâtie-Montsaléon.
