Since most of the route winds through the woods, this hike is perfect for hot days. It offers a chance to explore the Turriers ponds and the upper Sasse Valley.

Description

  1. From Les Dorats (1,050 m), take the narrow street between the houses and continue up the trail.
  2. At the reservoir, take the left fork. The trail quickly enters the woods and becomes well shaded. Be sure to follow the yellow markings. Several logging trails branch off to the right and left. At a water intake, take the trail to the left (wooden post) to reach an ONF trail a little further up.
  3. Follow this trail for about 100 meters to the right.
  4. Leave the trail and continue along the path that climbs through the underbrush. After a steep climb, follow the trail that appears on the right. The start is flat, then at the first fork, take the left trail, which climbs again.
  5. Upon reaching the Bois Noir ridge, take the ONF trail to the right, crossing the gate to reach the south-facing slope.
  6. Take the right fork to reach an ONF gate shortly after.
  7. Leave the main trail and take a fairly steep descending forest trail to the right to join another much wider trail as you descend.
  8. Leave the main trail to the left and take a path through the beech forest. Pass a trail on your left that leads to Bois Noir. After the ford, the path exits the forest and enters a meadow, which you follow along the hillside.
  9. Once at Les Sausses, continue downhill to quickly reach a sunken path between beautiful meadows. You’ll rejoin the trail from the ascent after passing a sheepfold. Return via the original trail.

WARNING: On this route, you may encounter livestock guard dogs protecting herds from wolf attacks.
It is strongly discouraged to bring a pet dog, even if it is on a leash.
If you encounter a herd, stay calm: stop, let the guard dogs get a good look at you, then give the herd a wide berth without making any sudden movements.
