This hike takes hikers along a typical Provençal hillside, amid boxwood and thyme, on the heights above the Méouge Gorges. The landscape has been shaped by the erosive effects of water over the past few million years.

Description

  1. Take the D 942 toward Laragne for 260 m. At the “Pont de Saint-Pierre” signpost (627 m), take the trail that climbs through the limestone grasslands and runs along a ledge above the gorges. Continue to the “Côte Chaude” signpost (790 m).
  2. At the signpost, turn left onto a path that climbs through the oak and pine forest, then descends, widening as it goes, to the Col de Peysson.
  3. At the pass, take the forest track that descends to the left. After 30 m, a trail runs alongside this track on its left and joins it at a bend. Continue. At the intersections, continue downhill (view of the expanses of dry meadows typical of Provence).
  4. At the intersection with a paved road, turn left to reach the D 942 200 m further down and return to the parking lot.
  • Departure : Junction D 942, Saint-Pierre-Avez
  • Arrival : Junction D 942, Saint-Pierre-Avez
