The Ammonites Family Via Ferrata is located right next to the Grande Fistoire Via Ferrata, in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence region, in the town of Le Caire.

Even more fun, easier, less physically demanding, yet just as beautiful and high-altitude, the Ferrata Familia des Ammonites features 3 footbridges and bridges as well as a 250-meter zip line.

During your climb, keep your eyes peeled, as small geological treasures are hidden along the rock face.
Once you reach the summit, take a deep breath and take in the view: the Lure Mountain, the Céüse Massif, Grande Gautière, and Grand Vallon come together to create a magnificent panorama!

As an added bonus, you’ll have a direct view of the Grande Fistoire—so you can start planning your next hike!

Description

This via ferrata offers a route designed for beginners, families, and children.

The highlight of this route: the continuous lifeline and safety systems on the vertical sections allow people weighing less than 40 kg to climb while being secured without needing to be roped up. In fact, the shock-absorbing lanyards traditionally used on via ferratas are not suitable for weights under 40 kg.

The route starts on the rock right in front of the via ferrata reception desk. The approach walk takes less than a minute! This is sure to delight the youngest visitors (and the not-so-young ones too?)!

A traverse leads you to the first bridge. Then two long vertical climbs take you to the next two footbridges.
After crossing “the slab of small steps,” you’ll make your way leisurely across terraces and ledges until you reach the final short vertical section. Take a break at the summit to admire the view.

From the summit, a narrow path winds down and leads you to the starting point of the 250-meter zip line.
